Flying Lessons

Things have been super busy around here the past few weeks.

I've settled into a routine at my new job and I'm loving it! It's nice to have a greater degree of flexibility and the ability to work a few shorter shifts (6 hour) as well, that way it doesn't feel like nights at home with Ben and Brock are a rarity. :-)

Ben and Brock took on the task of planting most of the garden a week or so ago while I was at work and the plants are just starting to come up. We also took the time to put some railroad ties around the flowerbed in the front yard so it looks a little more defined and not quite as much like a bunch of weeds growing in the middle of a more bare patch in the yard. :-P Now I just have to finish weeding it... and getting rid of the dirt clods from the railroad tie installation. :-) Oh, and my lilacs are finally blooming! I love lilacs!

Brock looks like he's ready to start crawling any day now, he'll get up on all fours and rock back and forth for a few seconds and then flop to the floor whenever I pull out the camera to document his progress. Silly kid.
This morning he decided to take flying lessons. First lesson: How to glide gracefully from the bed to the floor. Except it wasn't very graceful. Apparently he didn't go back to sleep after I fed him this morning and decided to explore what was on the other side of the bed... I awoke to a tiny cry, silence, a loud thump and a very loud scream. At which point I jumped off the bed after him. There was a small abrasion on his forehead but I didn't notice any other indication of injury. Half an hour later his eye started getting a little black and blue... so he looks a little like a schoolboy who took a few punches but he seems okay otherwise. I have to say I'm actually rather surprised he's gone this long without falling/being dropped as I'm not at all coordinated.

Brock's "black eye" and forehead. It looks worse in real life.
